Crucifixion
1967
monotype on paper, 56 x 39 cm

The monotype Crucifixion with a very unusual theme was created by Vladimír Boudník, the founder of one of the streams of the Czech post-war modern graphic art and the promoter of his own art movement of Explosionalism, which became the basis of his experimental work. In his graphic art experiments in 1957, Boudník focused on the technique of monotype, enriching his active and structural prints by the painting approach, but at that time mostly on a purely abstract level. By the theme of this print, Boudník had returned to his early expressive woodcuts of the late 1940s.
